  1. Do Not Use It In The Mornings Or Evenings — 1 Hour after waking up and 1 Hour before bed are times with No electronics. Make that a rule and your entire day will be easier. You can often extrapolate from these times, making them longer at both ends, eventually decreasing the amount of total time you are on your phone.
  2. Delete Apps — Any app that is not necessary needs to go. Necessary Apps are those that you use once a week at minimum. I know there are dozens of situationally useful apps, but if you do not need them then uninstall them. This way you clean up your phone and feel better not using it.
  3. Use Your Computer Instead — This may not be the best alternative, but it is a more annoying alternative. Example: Whenever you need to put something in your calendar, write it down on paper, then start your computer and put it in there. Circumvent your phone with extra effort to make sure you filter out the unnecessary things.
  4. Be Okay With Not Knowing Something — The most common reason you are using your phone is to “look something up”. This usually starts you on tangents, side-tracks, and, eventually, creates a habit of always being in the know. When you then are not in the know, you feel bad and require the use of your phone, making you use it a lot more throughout the day. It is okay not knowing something.
