10 Ways to Increase Your Awareness for Self-Improvement

  1. Meditation — Meditation allows you to look inside and you will often reflect on your life, enabling you to find out what is missing in your life. Things that get you stressed, angry or frustrated are often weak points and areas that can yield the most improvement.
    Meditation Technique: Sense — In every moment you can just try to sense what you are sensing without judgement. The sounds, feelings, smells, tastes and the things you see. Take them all in and notice them as often as possible. Name them, don’t judge them.
  2. Reflecting/Journaling — At the end of the day, week and/or month take some time to look over what happened and analyze that timeframe. A lot of things happen every day, and it only takes a little bit of reflection to begin seeing the underlying patterns.
  3. Tracking — Track your habits, goals and everything you do, especially the things you wish to improve upon. It’s one thing to look back and think this is what happened, but another to see the actual statistics. This is especially important over long stretches of time.
  4. Asking — Ask yourself at the end of each task whether or not that task lead you where you wanted it to. If not, you can already take steps to improve it the next time around. Many tasks we do throughout the day we passively fall into, rather than actively choosing them…
