11 Study Tricks That Will Also Increase Your Discipline

  1. Set a time, not an amount. When you set a time aside for how long you will study you take the edge of for what you must achieve. This makes it far easier to stay consistent in the study habit and will net you about the same average results.
  2. Sit down for that time every day, but do not try to achieve anything. Again, the important part is to take the time to study, not what you get done in that time.
  3. Start earlier in the day for there you have more willpower. The hardest things in the day should be done as early as you can, because they require far less willpower to do. The things you enjoy the most are best saved for last. (#EatThatFrog)
  4. Treat classes like reviews so you work ahead. Your classes should never be what you base your studies on alone. They are phenomenal as reviews but awful if you actually want to get good grades. Do not rely solely on them.
  5. Treat books like the gold-standard so you actually read (especially when they are not written by your professor). This ensures that you learn from people smarter than your professor and learn the most up-to-date content. If worse comes to worse, you can always reference the book and likely still get points added on an exam.
