12 Tips To Becoming A Confident Speaker

  1. Talk From Your Stomach — This is something you learn when going on stage: Talking from your core rather than your throat. Try to let the voice carry all the way from the pits of your stomach out and across the room.
  2. Take Up Space — The Embodiment Theory says that whatever emotion we let our body show is what we will feel more inside. As such, if you stand tall, take up more space and act like you are confident you will likely feel it more as well.
  3. Be Yourself — Too many people try too hard when giving speeches when, what carries most, is your personality. Allow that through. In a world of fake profiles and pictures, authenticity is a welcome rarity.
  4. Don’t Try To Fill — Be okay with silence, let it sit for a while and do not think you need to talk. If you have something to say, say it. If you don’t, then stay silent. Unless there is a point to it, do not say it.
  5. Nervousness Is Excitement — Nervousness and Excitement have the same bodily reactions. Your palms are sweaty, you tremble just a little bit, your heart rate is elevated and you feel weird inside. Instead of trying to think about it in the sense that you are nervous try to imagine you are excited instead.
  6. Start Right Away — Don’t bother with long introductions and get into the presentation as quickly as you can. No one…
