6 Short Tips That Help You Become A Better Speaker

- Voice Projection — Speak from your stomach rather than your throat. Place your hand on your chest and humm, taking your air from deeper within your body as you keep humming. Once your chest vibrates keep that tone for a while and then talk.
When talking try to project your voice to the end of the room without yelling. Make it carry instead of making it louder. - Enunciation — Speaking clearly is a great way to articulate more. Most people do not use their facial muscles enough, creating a very muffled and slurred speech. Instead try to overly dramatize every word you say with your face. Use as many muscles as possible and make them very wide to practice clear enunciation.
- Use longer Pauses — In high school I used to be in Speech Team and performed small, one-act plays at other high schools. During a performance I paused for what felt like 15 seconds, although it was closer to 5, which I thought was definitely noticeable. Afterwards my friends told me they didn’t even notice. You can take longer pauses than you think you can.
Test this out by talking to yourself in the mirror and pausing for a while. When you feel it gets uncomfortable then you waited a bit too long so shorten it next time to get used to a nice medium. - Vary your sentence structure — Sentence length, vocabulary used, and the rhythm of the…
