7 Steps To Recovering What You’ve Lost
What’s gone is gone.
Who you used to be, what you used to be able to do, and where you used to go, does not matter anymore.
You are not that person anymore.
You are not that disciplined, are not that funny, burdened, sad, happy, athletic, unathletic, lazy, unmotivated, stressed or carefree anymore.
You changed, and with that everything that makes you you.
Do not try to make up for what you have lost.
The reason for this is not because what you have lost is lost forever, but more so because the details of it will have changed even if you do get it back.
If you find your grit again, and recover the discipline you used to have, it will not be driven by the same factors it used to, and will likely feel very different to you.
It may still be grit or discipline, but it won’t be the same grit or discipline you used to have.
The same is true for joy, excitement, carefreeness, or anything else you wish to regain.
What’s gone is gone, but you may find something different in the same vein again.
You can absolutely build up a new grit and a new form of discipline (just like anything else), but it will be new.
