  1. Physical Signs — Reddening of the cheeks and/or ears, nervous ticks (such as scratching) or even trying to be too stiff, which is just the avoidance of these ticks, can all be signs of a liar. (If their nose grows as you talk to them you should be especially careful.)
  2. The “3 Yes” Method — The ‘3 Yes’ Method is a sales method that applies by getting someone to say yes 3 times to minor things about the sale they would always say yes to and then asking them for the deal, making it more likely they will say yes there as well. When using this with a liar simply get them to reactively answer 3 questions. Chances will be very high they will answer the 4th question reactively as well, leading to a misstep and the revelation of the truth.
  3. Get Them Outside Their Comfort Zone — Ask them unusual questions that are specific to what they are talking about. These should be things they couldn’t have thought of in advance as well as things that no one else would ask. The weaker their lie the less discomfort/surprise you have to expose them to.
  4. Directly Point Out A Hunch — If you find a friend cancelling on you a lot, for example with saying they are too busy, next time just directly confront them about it. They will likely not expect this, at which point you can use any of the other tricks mentioned here to throw them even further off.
