- A Degree Does Not Guarantee You A Better Job. My dad was a university professor for Masters students studying Biology and/or Chemistry. He told me that his students got paid more working at Home Depot after they got their Master’s than the companies offered where they could use their degree. They invested more than $30,000 only to have the same job and a bit more knowledge they would never use.
- There Will Be A Lot Of Repeats. Throughout your years in college a lot of subjects and topics will repeat themselves. It is important that you learn the subjects and memorize them right in the first semester so that you have a much easier time later on. Work ahead so that the repeats can be reminders and refreshers instead of having to learn it all 3 or more times throughout your college career.
- Treat Your Classes As Summaries. If you really want to get ahead you need to put in work outside the class room. And I do not just mean reading the textbooks and learning more for exams, I mean really going out of your way to find out more about the subjects and learning on your own that isn’t “exam-relevant”. What you learn in class is just a summary of what you should be learning on your own.
