  1. Do not listen to lyrical Music. Lyrics will distract as they are processed by similar/shared areas of your brain that process written language.
  2. Have a dedicated place to study/work that is outside your usual places to avoid falling into similar routines. (This can just be a different room, but ideally it is something more dedicated).
  3. Remove other thoughts such as about things you could be doing or would rather do. You decided to study/work now. Commit to that.
  4. Actively choose to re-focus. “I choose to focus on studying/working now” is often enough to get you back on track.
  5. Take more, 1-minute breaks during which you only turn your chair around and stare at the wall to allow your brain a breather. Try it. It’s quite effective.
  6. Stretch and Drink Water more regularly for increased Oxygen flow to your brain.
  7. Have fun with it, gamify the studying/working or do something else that makes it more enjoyable and not a drag. Remember that you are doing this ultimately to lead a better life.
  8. Actually try your hardest. Do not passively study/work. Challenge yourself to see how much you can actually learn/get done in a given amount of time. Go to your limits.
  9. Smile as you study/work. As your brain is bad at determining what came first, the emotion or the corresponding physical action, it often makes you feel happy, associating it to your studies/work. This is positive reinforcement 101.
