One of my favorite life advices is about happiness.

To be happy you simply have to do more of what you love and less of what you do not.

This advice is given out in many different forms by many different people, but always in the same concept.

It is, obviously, incredibly simplistic.

Many people do not have the time, money or means to do more of what they love.

They cannot say ‘Yes’ to everything they want to do for they have responsibilities to attend to and often even have to say ‘No’ to the things they truly want to do.

But isn’t that then what they want to do?

If they want to live without the consequences of the responsibilities more than they want to do the thing they love, isn’t that then still holding true to this advice?

I believe it is not about the advice itself, but about what happens when you realize that this is, in a way, always true.

Of course your life is going to be better if you say ‘Yes’ to more things you love and ‘No’ to things you do not, however, in accepting the responsibility for your choice either way you stop resisting life that much.
