Being surrounded by intellectual people for most of my life (Honors programs in school and studying psychology in college, which had a 3.5 GPA requirement [Equivalent to a 30+ ACT score]) helped me understand why intellectual people are often very reserved.

1. They Are Not Interested In The Subject. Most intelligent people are not interested in small-talk and will therefore not interact with people talking about pointless subjects. But when you find something that sparks their interest, they will often speak volumes! The interests of intelligent people are often so passionate they can be misconstrued for obsessions.

2. A Lot Of Them Spend Their Time In Other Places. What I mean by that is that a lot of them do not have the practice to being socially open enough to talk about any subject. Most intelligent people spend their time working, learning or studying and not hanging out with other people — or at least not as much as most.

This makes it difficult for them to sometimes say what they think because they have not practiced talking to others or because they haven’t spent enough time with them.

Add to that the fact that some don’t want to appear rude when they know more or that they do not feel like…
