Be Bored To Stop Boredom

Be bored then! I mean really bored.

As odd as that sounds, if you commit to the boredom you will likely get sick and tired of it sooner which may actually cause a change.

Adjust your body posture to that of a bored person, watch the most boring documentary you can, or nothing at all, do not shower, only order in the exact same food day after day, and commit fully to it.

Trust me, if you do that long enough, you will get angry at yourself.

Now, this is obviously not the best way, but it is a way to defeat the boredom.

The reason this works is mainly because you are committing yourself to something.

You become active in your boredom instead of passively living it out.

It’s the passive approach to life that often makes us feel so bored.

For instance, look at the difference between watching a movie at home vs. the movie theater.

While some movies at home may interest you, you often do other things.

You’re on the Computer, chat with people on the phone, or even talk over the movie, thereby missing half of it and claiming it as a “bad movie” by the end.

When you are in the theater, however, the only thing you do is follow the storyline and the movie.
