Confidence is only based on 5 main realizations that you will figure out sooner or later.
These 5 realizations are gained by those that appear confident, but they are not what most expect.
Realization #1: Everyone feels nervous.
Ask any actors, actress, athlete, or speaker and you will find that they all will tell you that they still get nervous in interviews, talking to new people and when they have to perform.
The only difference is that these people have done it for so long that they got used to this nervousness and have developed some confidence being nervous. They have not, however, gotten rid of their nerves.
These are professionals that have to show up as confident, yet none of them claim to be exempt from getting nervous or that they started out this confident; after all they are human too.
When you think about these people consider that your friends or the other people on the street do not have the amount of experiences that lead them to that same level of confidence.
Most of them will feel exactly the way you do now and most will assume the exact same thing about you as you do about them.
