Do What Matters: The Problem of Self-Improvement
Every Self-Improvement tip, piece of advice and good thought you get is completely useless.
Self-improvement experts, personal development gurus, and life coaches who pretend that everything works for everyone do not care about you as an individual.
Well, maybe I should rephrase that: They cannot care about you as an individual.
Everything you read, listen to and every advice you have ever come across worked for them and a select group of people, but it does not mean that it will also work for you. You are too unique for generic advices to apply.
The US Airforce, in order to save large amounts of money and resources, once spent millions in research on designing a pilot seat that would fit every person.
And after a long process they managed to create a chair that should fit the average person.
When the pilots entered, however, it did not fit a single one.
The average person does not exist.
Therefore, depending on who you are you, where you are in life, and what you are going through, may find the tips to be life-changing or you might find them to be of no value whatsoever, however, it will be nothing more than chance.
