When Uncle Ben dies he leaves his nephew with these powerful words, but they are not what they seem at first.
As the audience we assume that Uncle Ben was talking about the newly discovered powers Peter Parker now has as Spider-Man, but Uncle Ben never knew that.
He wasn’t talking him up to be some heroic figure that would save people by fighting all sorts of crazy villains.
Uncle Ben was not inspiring Peter Parker to become Spider-Man, but rather for Peter to become a man of value.
As we grow up we all become more powerful.
Our voice holds more meaning, our actions can speak louder, and we become a part of this world that can actually create a change.
We get more power over our own lives, from how we govern ourselves to how we interact with others, and each action we take carries more weight to it.
It is our power of choice that makes us become more responsible.
This responsibility is what is often viewed as making life worse, for we cannot lay it down.
We cannot rely on our parents anymore, cannot go back to that blissful time as children where we had nothing to worry about, and…
