#1 — Your morning starts the night before. Your evening routine is the start of it all. How the night before goes directly affects how the morning goes. If you do not make this a priority, then it does not matter how motivated and serious you are about your morning, you will still find yourself lacking in energy and discipline.

For an ideal sleep environment follow the following rules of thumb:

  1. Sleep in complete dark.
  2. Sleep in colder temperatures (around 18°C).
  3. Do not use electronics 1 hour before going to bed.
  4. Do not eat anything 2 hours before going to bed.
  5. Keep your room silent or put in earplugs.
  6. Go to bed on time. Set a timer so that you get sleep in 90-minute interval cycles (90, 180, 270…). This represents a full sleep cycle for the average person.

#2 — Become active right away. Most people go out for a jog as soon as they get up, take a cold shower or hit the gym. Do not start the day off slow and instead do something active for at least 30 minutes.

Exercise, work or going outside are the best options, but as long as you are up and about you will be getting off on the right foot. The point is not to stay in bed.
