Find What Truly Matters
The smell of medicine and disinfectant is in the air and there is a low, but rhythmic, beeping to be heard.
You open your eyes and see an empty, sterilized, white room.
The door opens and your friends and family walk in with bitter smiles on their faces.
Everybody knows it, and you feel it too; your life is coming to an end.
Looking back on it, you ended up actually doing everything you wanted.
You married the person of your dreams, had the job of a lifetime, and finished every item on your Bucket List.
You did, without a doubt, live a full life.
Now, at the end of it all, you are lying there surrounded by your loved ones.
You smile and one person, the one who means the most to you, walks up to hold your hand.
“You lived a full life” they say, “and we are all grateful that we can be here in your final moments. Thank you for being a part of our lives and for allowing us to be a part of yours. At the end of it all, what lesson was most important to you? And what qualities would you say led you to live this life you lived?”
Take a moment to think about these questions.
What lesson, at the end, was the most important one to you?
