Follow These Short Writing Tips To Become A Better Writer Today

- Edit, Edit, Edit — 20–25% of your writing should actually be writing. The other 75–80% will be editing, revising and re-writing.
- Just Write — Write without aim or cause and simply allow your hands to do the brainstorming for you. Write and just keep writing as you see and wonder what words appear on the page. This is the best time to write outlines or drafts to edit later.
- Cut With Reckless Abandon — A great rule of thumb is to decrease your post to 1/5th its original length. Cut 4/5ths. Do this and you will definitely find the golden nuggets of your post.
- Write Daily — 500 Words a day. 1 Post published. 365 days a year. No exceptions. This is your minimum.
- Use Active Voice — You want your posts to engage your audience.
- Be Controversial — Make your point without explaining why as often as you can. This will get what you write a lot more attention (both positive and negative), and you can make clearer points.
- Practice — Try to practice these tips at specific times and with specific pieces of content. Set time aside to practice every day.
