Getting Motivated — The Secret That Is No Secret

Motivation is a decision first.

Technically, you have to be motivated to do anything at all, including eating, drinking and even sleeping.

Often there is a reason, such as hunger or tiredness, that gets you to do these things and then you become “motivated” to do them, but in the end, it’s a decision, since you can also eat when you are not hungry or try to go to sleep outside your bed time.

In that sense, everything you end up doing came from some motivation.

Which means that you are always motivated, it’s just about directing that motivation.

Now, this may seem easier said than done but it is starts with making a choice.

You can choose to do things for your futures sake, because you deserve a better life from you, or simply because you know it is good for you in the moment.

Sometimes, it is simply enough to say “I am motivated to do X” or “I chose to do X” to get yourself feeling motivated.

This has to do with the Embodiment Theory (something I would highly recommend looking up if you want to know more about it).

Try it out now. Stand up and repeat one of the above-mentioned phrases without giving a reason.
