How Do I Begin To Get Into Reading If I Hate It?
You’re at the racetracks. Beforehand, you got an anonymous tip on which horse is almost guaranteed to lose.
Any normal person would know not to bet on this horse, so why are you?
If you hate reading then developing the skills to read will just be a long, strenuous struggle, after which you will only be able to do more of what you despise.
That seems like a fantastic way to start hating your life.
The question is why you want to begin reading.
If it is to develop skills or to learn more about the world then reading is not the only way to go.
My ex-girlfriend has dyslexia and is awful at reading. It takes her about 20x the energy and time to read a book that it takes other people to read books.
Yet, she is a fan of books and has read every Harry Potter and every Lord of The Rings book multiple times, as well as reading most of Terry Pratchett’s novels.
Her trick is not actually reading them; She listens.
In today’s age Audiobooks are a fantastic source for those who do not want to read themselves, and even if no Audiobook exists, there are programs online that will read text for you.
