How Do People Become So Self-Aware?
Self-awareness is a very beneficial, but very tough thing to develop.
It helps so much with every facet of life because it allows so much more introspection and interaction with oneself and ones environment.
The problem most people have is that their self-awareness is triggered at random, and usually only happens in hindsight.
It is hard to be aware of oneself and ones environment in the moment, especially when that moment is filled with extreme emotions.
Yet there are some people who do hold a lot of self-awareness.
The main difference is just not that they are “better” at being self-aware, but rather that they developed their mind to trigger the self-awareness we all have more frequently.
As such there are 3 things that they do on a daily basis:
- Accept themselves.
- Practice through meditation or self-inquiries (such as reviews/reflections).
- Recall the Bigger Picture.
#1: Accepting themselves.
The main reason most of us are not self-aware is because we deny ourselves.
We deny what we feel, deny what we think, want and who we are.
