How To Become Invested In Even The Most Boring Topics

Stop looking at the subject in terms of the contents.

What I mean by this is that you should try to find something different to focus on during your studies , other that the actual contents of what it is you need to learn.

I remember sitting in a weekend seminar for a psychology course. The weekend seminar was 8 hours on a Friday and Saturday and then 4 hours on Sunday, totaling 20 hours in 3 days.

I had to take this class, but in the first hour I already realized it was going to be one of the most boring Seminars I had to take; I was almost fully asleep 20 minutes into the course…

Luckily, by the hour mark something dawned on me: I chose to be here.

Sure, I had to take the class to graduate, but I didn’t have to graduate or could have tried to pick another professor or maybe even messaged this professor to write a paper instead of being in class.

I likely had hundreds of options, but I chose to be here.

Now, if I was going to spend my time here, I might as well make it worth it.

I then tried to figure out what I could focus on that would actually benefit me.

Since I found the subject matter incredibly boring, I instead chose to focus on a few other…
