The best life hack during tough times is to give up.
Surrender. Quit. Stop what you are doing.
Now, before you freak out, I am not telling you to actually give up on whatever is giving you a difficult time, what I am saying is that you need to give up so hard on trying to persevere.
Most of the “tough times” you experience aren’t actually that tough to handle.
You could solve close to 90% of your problems within a days work if you really got to it, with almost half of those problems only taking a single call to fix.
The only thing that makes the problems so tough to handle is your mind telling you that you have something to lose.
You don’t want to call the bank out of fear you might have less money than you thought you did.
You don’t want to talk to your boss out of fear that you might be perceived as less competent.
And you do not want to talk to your partner out of fear that it will result in a fight.
This makes you so scared of doing what is necessary that you push it away, and end up never doing it as you only making the initial problem worse.
Over time, this then results into a lot of small problems that add up to huge monsters, and, eventually, they will likely become unavoidable all at once.
The thing is that while this looks like a huge problem, the tough times are still only a collection of small problems that have combined to be too big to distinguish.
What makes this worse is that during the tough times we think of all sorts of things that may happen that never do, scaring us to believe we will lose something we will never lose.
But the solution is still the same.
It is in approaching the solution knowing it could go wrong that you make that monstrous amount of problems diminish.
The problem is that very often, whatever we are scared to do is exactly what we need to do to solve the problem!
We just don’t do it in the hopes that a better, less scary solution will present itself.
