How To Stop Being Motivated By Fear
I highly recommend you watch the movie Dr. Strange (2016).
(Spoiler Alert for those who have not seen it.)
His greatest fear was not being the best or not being good enough, so he worked harder than anyone around and became the best of the best in his field as a surgeon.
However, as he got more fame and recognition for his work he also became arrogant and conceited.
He did not want to believe he could ever fail.
Due to his arrogance, he eventually found himself in an accident that shattered his hands, causing a tremor that made them useless for a surgeon.
In a single moment his greatest fear was realized.
Not knowing how to combat it, he succumbed to the fear and thought his life was over.
He became depressed, spent all his money and it ruined his life.
To not recount the entire movie, he does find a new direction for himself and his life in Magic (remember this is a superhero movie).
Towards the end of the movie he has a talk with his teacher once more, who put it all into perspective for him.
