How Writing Daily Changed My Life

When I first began to write daily I did it solely for one reason: To prove to myself that I could be disciplined enough to do so.

I wrote a 500+ Word Blog Post every day for 365 days, no matter what.

I did not set this goal to gain a lot of followers or to do anything with my writing, but simply because I wanted to test my discipline.

One day, during the summer, I was drinking with my college friends and realized at 11:30 p.m. that I still hadn’t written the blog post I promised myself I would.

Luckily enough, I was already a few months into the writing habit, and so when I realized this I pulled out my phone and typed away at the blog post, ignoring everyone of my friends for the next 30 minutes.

This was the first commitment I had set for myself that I could not give up on, because it meant too much to me.

Of course I wasn’t perfect, and in the end I probably only finished 340 posts, but I still proved my discipline.

However, even though I did what I set out to do, the expectations of people reading my writing still increased and when I looked at my follower number after the roughly 340 written posts I was crushed.

“24 followers” is what my screen showed me, and I knew at least half of those were family and…
