What that triggers depends on what you associate with it.

Try to listen to only the melody or only read the lyrics and let your mind wander. You will notice certain emotions, ideas and images in your head. This is what is triggered by each.

But, rule of thumb: The songs prime your world in the same tone that the singer had when they recorded the song. That is why so many shows (such as American Idol, The Voice, and the like) are all about the emotion behind the song, for that is what sells and what sets songwriters apart from another.
