12Life Hack Used Wrongly: The Unethical Problem With Psychology
Psychology has given us a lot of answers to how our brain works.
From the functions of the brain in sports to the biology and changes the brain makes over time, these findings have been used to help people in all walks of life, however, with that knowledge also came people who abused it.
Everything, no matter how good it may be innately, can be used for or against the world.
The most unethical of these findings that I can think of is getting people to do what you want without them being given a choice.
Below are the findings that play the biggest roles in this:
1. Authority Bias
Psychology has analyzed various ways that influence others to do what we want.
We all know that dressing professionally and seeming in control, for example, has a gigantic effect on the way others comply to what we ask.
One famous study came from a man named Milgram. At the time he was researching why the German Soldiers followed the orders of their superiors during World War II to create the atrocities they did.
