Looking Inward: How Can I Get To Know Myself?
To throw the question right back at you: How can you get to know anyone better?
You get to know your friends better by spending more time with them, by doing more activities with them and/or by talking to them on a more regular basis.
When you experience a wider variety of situations, overcome challenges together, or have a true heart-to-heart, that is when you truly connect.
You can do the same thing with yourself.
Take some time out of your day to spend time sitting by yourself, either writing or talking to yourself, to get your thoughts out of your head.
It’s very difficult to have a purely mental conversation in which you play both the receiver and sender all the time, but if you can write down your thoughts it will become a lot simpler for you to actually have a conversation with yourself, rather than a twisted Gollum-like Monologue.
You already do this anyway, but fail to listen.
Most of the time when your thoughts come up you ignore them, justify them, deny them or pretend they are something other than they are.
You deny yourself based on who you think you should be rather than accepting yourself for who you are.
