Obsessing Over Your Goals: What Is Obsession?
Obsession is the over-the-top, too-much, no-excuses, no-justifications, will-likely-end-myself-to-get-there, mentality.
It is often associated with an unhealthy amount of action, combined with an addictive approach.
When people talk about others being obsessed it is usually in a derogatory way, and meant to insinuate that this person does not hold their life in balance, for they see it like a fire that consumes everything and anything in its path.
However, being obsessed about something is also by far the best way to get amazing at something; the biggest fires often burn the brightest.
It is what allows you to sacrifice more than other people are willing to sacrifice, which gives you more time, energy and power to push for the cause of your obsession.
- Everything becomes a potential sacrifice. Sleep, health, relationships, friendships, money and time are often quickly on the chopping block in order to generate more time and energy for achieving ones goals.
- Every moment becomes a chance to do a little more. It is not uncommon to see an obsessed person take a bathroom break from a social interaction just so they can work a little more on their goals.
