Being obsessed with someone means you cannot live without them.

You need them in your life. You must have them. They must be yours.

You will have them and they do not get a say about it.

Every waking second you are focused on having more of them in your life and making them more yours.

You will never leave their side, will never do anything to make them leave yours and will do whatever it takes to keep them around.

You depend on them.

You need them.

When you love someone, however, it is a bit different.

Instead of needing them you desire them. You want them more than anything else and every minute with them is a blessing, but not a necessity.

You will always do what is best for them and will work in their best interest because you care for their well-being more than your own.

This means that if they want to go, if you need to let them go, you will.

And that is the main difference.

Obsessing about someone means wishing they were in a cage so you can have them around forever and that they are always there.
