Self-confidence and arrogance are separated by a thin line.

A lack of self-reflection or self-awareness can lead to someone being seen as arrogant that actually only feels confidence in themselves.

Take the line: “I am amazing”

Depending on who says it, and it what context, this can be perceived very differently.

It’s often the genuineness of the words that makes the biggest difference:

A person saying this because they feel they have to to be respected by others, will come across as arrogant.

If they say this and are unwilling to accept that they may be wrong, it will likely be perceived as arrogance.

The lack of the possibility that they are not good enough, or that they may have made a mistake, makes it really hard to view it as confidence.

Just saying a line like this, if not for themselves, will already leave the sour taste of arrogance in most peoples mouths.

On the other hand, a person that genuinely believes they are amazing, but that does not need anyone else to believe it, the one that does not need to speak this out out loud, will be silently confident.
