It does not matter whether you are an early bird or a night owl, how successful you are or how happy you may be.
Sleep is a necessity.
The amount of sleep you need may change, given certain factors such as Age, Genetics, your sleeping habits, motivation or stress, but for that we first have to differentiate between the biological need, perceived need and actual need for sleep.
Biologically speaking, everyone has an amount of sleep that is necessary for them.
For most adults this ranges around 8 hours of sleep (although different sleeping habits can lead to less hours of sleep needed in total without limiting cognitive functions).
This time also changes with age and is higher when you are younger and lower when you are older.
That being said, your own sleep cycles will also vary.
The average amount for a full sleep cycle is about 90 minutes, yet your personal cycle length will depend on your genetics and will be different from everyone else.
It might be 80 minutes, 93 minutes, or close to 100 minutes.
To get the most out of your sleep, and to find your biological ideal, you have to find how many sleep cycles…
