Stop using “But” and start using “Yes, and…”

But is only an excuse not to do something you actually want.

It is a way to lie to yourself without feeling too bad about it, to give yourself a justified reason to mask what you truly want.

I dare you to stop using “but” for an entire week and to see what happens.

Avoid this word, especially when talking to yourself!

Affirm your desire rather than denying them by saying “YES” and giving it a positive reason!

  • I want to buy that car, but I do not have the money. → I want to buy that car. Yes, and I will work on getting the money so I can get it soon.
  • I want to ask her out on a date, but she probably doesn’t like me anyway. → I want to ask her out on a date. Yes, and it might even go right and she might even say yes!
  • I should go to the gym today, but I do not feel like it. → I should go to the gym today. Yes, and if I go I will feel incredible!

Leave your desires as they are and start to be honest with yourself… you will regret far less and achieve far more!
