Stop The Negative Self-Talk Or Be Consumed By The Consequences
Know that every kind of self-talk you have is something you have trained yourself to do.
Whether it is negative or positive, the only reason you talk to yourself in the manner that you do is because you have practiced it and have gotten really good at it.
There is an old Cherokee legend that I always get reminded of when someone asks me this question:
An old Cherokee chief teaches his grandson about life…
“There is a fight going on inside me.” he said to the boy.
“It is a terrible fight between two wolves.”
“One is evil — he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt and ego.”
“The other is good — he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.”
“This same fight is going on inside you- and in every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”
The old chief simply replied, “The one you feed.”
