It’s 3 p.m. and I haven’t done anything yet today.

Video games, TV shows, and distractions have taken over my entire day thus far.

Every time I wanted to pry myself free I found myself regretting that so much time had gone to waste and it started to make me fearful for my future.

I was afraid I wasn’t doing enough, afraid to face the consequences of my inaction, and afraid that I couldn’t make up for this wasted time.

These fears quickly became so large that I tried to run away from them, right into the open arms of the distractions I was trying to avoid.

And just like that, it was 3 p.m. and I hadn’t done anything yet today.

I am sharing this with you today because it is something that happens to all of us.

Inaction, Procrastination, and the fear and regret those cause, create a self-sustaining vortex of misery that is near impossible to escape.

The thing is… I am writing now.

If you have faced this vortex before you know how hard it is to get out of it.

Most people try to escape this vortex by paddling harder, blaming themselves more, and tapping into their anger to push them out of the whirlpool by force.
