Tend to the Garden of Your Mind: How to Stop Overthinking
All the thinking in the world is not going to amount to anything.
I know you know this but you are too afraid of what that means to truly acknowledge it.
Since thinking does nothing, it means that action is the only thing you can do.
But that is hard work…
That means you have to get off your butt and start doing the things you do not want to do.
It means facing the problems you have avoided, the conversations you put off, and the work that you have been slowly, but effectively, procrastinating on.
You have done a very good job of not doing what you know you should.
Maybe it is too difficult, maybe it is too stressful, or maybe you have just put it off for so long that you cannot figure out how to start without feeling terrible that you didn’t start earlier.
Either way, if you are overthinking it means that you are not doing enough to be able to rest.
You have too much mental energy left at the end of your day, but with you not taking enough steps for a better future, and with you stuck in a present you do not like, your thoughts immediately go to those bad scenarios.
