There are a lot of people who are motivated but still fail to see things through.

Almost every person is similar in this regard, as can be seen by most New Year’s Resolutions. We get extremely motivated, but by February already about half of our Resolutions fail…

This is not because we are unmotivated, do not care about our Resolutions or aren’t serious about the commitments we made, but rather because we fall into one of the 5 pitfalls of Motivation:

  1. We assume Motivation is passion.
  2. We demand the positive feelings to do any work.
  3. We do not re-affirm our dreams.
  4. We put too much on our plate.
  5. We let reasons get in the way of work.

#1 — Motivation is NOT Passion

Motivation and Passion have been used synonymously under the same heading of Motivation, but they are very different things.

When we think of Motivation, we think of an idolized form of it that is more akin to passion than Motivation.

Motivation, at it’s core, is the will to take action.

Passion, on the other hand, is the positive excitement and uplifting feelings for a course of action.
