The most important lesson I learned from my father was that you should never compromise on what you truly want.

When my father turned to spirituality it turned his entire life around.

He left my mom, and, a couple years later, even left his job as a University Professor.

At the time he had a 4-hour workweek (he had 2 classes that were on the same day and the other 6 days a week he had off… at full salary).

Even though he had just gotten tenure, for him, that was not enough.

He wanted to travel, to see the world and to make new experiences.

Even though he had a job most people would die for it was still not what he wanted. And instead of compromising, he left.

Most people would be scared to death to make such a choice, thinking about what this would mean to them, but my father didn’t care.

He did not consider what he would leave behind and considered what he could gain instead.

At the time, he had 3 kids and an ex-wife to pay for and still left it all behind without a single care in the world.

You might call it reckless, stupid and irresponsible, but in his eyes he knew exactly that he was going to make it somehow… and I believed…
