The Reason Why All Good Things Come To An End

All good things come to an end because that’s what makes them good.

Without the end there is nothing to deem good or bad.

It just is.

Think about life for instance.

If there were no death our appreciation of life would plummet.

It would not mean a lot to be alive as there was no way to end it.

It would be something we take for granted, the same way we take other things for granted.

We do not find water to be good unless we live in a place where it’s lacking, do not find the internet good unless the router dies, and do not find money good when we do not know what it’s like to be without.

Anything and everything that has an end gives itself meaning.

And while this is a self-sustaining cylce, it does not mean that we will eventually have no more good things.

Because something ends it makes room for something new; “One door closes, another one opens” as the saying goes.

With everything that passes we create room for something else to be added into our lives.

When a person leaves we gain time and attention to spend on someone new, when we loose an opportunity we forge a new path to different possibilities, and when something good ends it makes way for something new to take its place.

Good things end because they must.

Without the end, it would not have been good in the first place.

I would suggest not mourning the passing of those good things, but appreciating that you could view it as good to begin with.

There is a time where it aided you and a time where it was good but it had to come to pass sooner or later, that is it’s nature, so take what you can from it.

All things must come to an end, bad and good things alike.

And while that may seem dark and sad at first, realize that this is what gives it meaning and value to begin with.
