The Reason You Are Not Getting Promoted In Your Career
There are two employees in a company. Let us call them Dave and Sherry.
All his life Dave was taught to just do as other people tell him to. His parents grew up like that, their parents grew up like that, and now he has grown up like that.
When your boss tells you something, you do it, which is exactly what Dave does, and he is exceptional at it.
Dave always outperforms his coworkers, goes the extra mile, and gets everything done sooner than expected.
He is the best model worker and one that many companies would kill to have. Yet… he doesn’t get promoted.
Sherry, on the other hand, does not do what one expect from her. She doesn’t do only what her employer tells her to and sometimes is even late on some tasks.
But that is because she was taught to think outside the box. Sherry learned a lot about the company she works for and, whenever her boss gives her a task to do, she contemplates it, questions the reason behind it for herself, and tries to find a way to support the company the best.
This might mean that she skips out on some tasks, but in a broader point of view she incorporates her own ideas into the work, tries to think about the bigger picture and works from behind the scenes to lead the…
