The Reason You Cannot Stop To Overthink
Your brain is a muscle.
It takes roughly 20% of your daily energy, for something that weighs roughly 2% of your body and works with electrical impulses.
That means that a lot of the energy you get a day is being put into electrical signals in your mind, and not using that energy would be like overloading a battery.
Luckily, your body is smart enough to not let that happen, so it finds ways to use the energy rather than storing it all up.
In this way your mind is a machine with the switch always on.
Your mind always thinks, it cannot stop itself.
Even the best meditation teachers can only stop their thoughts for a minute at a time, and that after decades of training.
The only time it powers down is when you die.
If those thoughts are undirected they will simply end up going to whatever they can grasp first or what they are used to.
For most of us, this means that they energy will simply go into continuing the thoughts we had, often drawing circles through the exact same thoughts.
If unchecked, the energy will flow into pathways we never want it to go, powering machines and processes we would rather have turned off, and ending up in actions and…
