The Secret To A Balanced Life

The assumption is that a balanced life refers to the balance between work and play.

Most of us consider this balance the 40 hour work week balanced by the relaxing weekend.

We work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, and then “balance” our lives on the weekends with relaxing, watching TV and drinking and other “fun” activities.

And while that works for some of us, most of us feel exhausted after such a weekend and rarely refreshed.

The activities are not as much fun as they are simply distractions from the week we left behind and the week that’s coming up ahead.

It’s distractions from the 5 out of 7 awful days and, in comparison, the 2 remaining days seem good but objectively they’re not and we know it.

Overall, our lives suck and the “balance” is only forgetting how much life sucks. That is not a “balanced” life.

A true balanced life is one where we feel satisfied at the end of every day.

Sure, some days will be better than others, but overall we look back and we can honestly say that life is great!

We spend enough time with our family to feel connected to them, enough time at work to feel like our life has purpose and enough time with ourselves and doing activities that bring us joy that we do…
