- Take More Breaks — Your brain cannot function at high capacities for too long without needed rests.
- Take Better Breaks — A good break is made by doing two things:
- Avoiding all stressors to your mind. This includes all Screens and activities that use your brain capacity in some way.
- Keeping it short. 1–2 minutes is plenty of time to relax if you do it right. Simply turn your chair around and do nothing for a minute other than relax. - Keep Your Mind Emotionally Engaged — Emotions are the strongest driving forces our minds create, use them! Stay connected to your work on an emotional level and you will activate something much more primal and raw.
- Stay With The Task — Eventually your mind will tell you to do something new or different, as what you are doing now isn’t interesting anymore. Stick with the task in spite of how you feel and you will eventually reach a state of Flow.
- Set Up Rewards That Mean Something — Don’t just put a gummi-bear at the end of every page as a tiny reward, instead go on a long, amazing vacation once you ace all your exams or get a promotion. You will feel like you deserve it then and you’ll enjoy it a lot more!
