An author might consider their writing just words on paper or simply writing on a page worth no merit.

They may think that, compared to other arts of literature, theirs just got lucky.

Many would consider that humility, but only if the person is successful.

If their writing is not successful it suddenly sounds self-deprecating, pessimistic or low self-esteem.

On the other hand, an author that thinks their writing is great and tries to get it out, even though are small will be seen as self-confident while a successful author that does the same will be seen as arrogant.

Humility is more the absence of caring, which results in not needing to speak about it either.

I know this sounds counter-intuitive but if you do not care what others think you will not rub it anyone’s face, thereby you won’t risk coming across as arrogant.

You can be silently confident.

Believe in yourself without needing to tell anyone about it or talking about what it is that you do.

Remember that self-confidence grows from within, not from outside, hence the word; you should not need to explain it to anyone.
