The True Time-Wasters

What is a waste of time?

The honest answer: Nothing and Everything.

The truth is that it does not matter what you do, but how you approach it that matters most.

You can waste time exercising, reading, learning, going to work, or spending time with a loved one if it is to avoid something more important.

On the other hand, you could also spend quality and valuable time by playing video games, watching TV, or scrolling through social media depending on your reasoning.

You can find out what is a true waste of time by answering these 3 questions:

  1. Is this activity an escape from something more important? — Is there something that you should be doing instead? Are you avoiding a more important task with this task?
  2. Are you actually getting what you said out of the activity? — Are you relaxing watching TV? Do you actually feel closer to your partner with the time you spend with them? Are you actually working at work?
  3. Is this something you need to do or want to do or neither? — If it is not something you need to do, and not something you want to do, then it is a waste of time. If it is something you want to do, but are doing it instead of what you need to do, it is also a waste of time.
