The Truth About “Good Habits” and Addictions

Here’s something most people do not understand: Any habit can become an addiction.

Most people believe as long as they partake in a positively accepted habit, it doesn’t matter how much time they spend on it as the results will always remain positive.

On the contrary, the more time they spend on that habit the better it seems.

Reading a dozen books a week gives them more knowledge, working out for multiple hours a day gets them fitter and more active, and spending those extra hours on the grind results in an earlier and more substantial success.

There is a problem with this line of thinking, for it misses something.

It’s true that these habits are good, but when they are used as an escape from other aspects of life they all turn into horrible addictions.

I once had a client who went to every single Tony Robbins Event.

He flew to all of them and even during Covid signed himself up to all online events.

To him it was a great source of confidence and self-worth, as Tony Robbins Events were all very empowering.

My client would go to these Events and would come back energized and motivated, excited about all he learned, and would often even change his life afterwards.
