The Unsung Hero
I have always been a huge fan of the unsung hero.
The hero that saves the world without needing any reward, the one that does it without even being known.
Because of that I have been drawn to the likes of Spider-Man, Batman and all the heroes that suffer in the background.
The greater their sacrifice, the larger their pain, the greater the heroicness when it was not known.
Because of this I would have to say my favorite superhero is Dr. Strange and all because of that famous “I’ve come to Bargain” moment.
Now, in the movie it is only a handful of times that he dies, but in the original drafts it was closer to 1,000 times that he died.
I want you to think about what that means for just a second. 1,000 deaths.
He is skewered, melted, electrocuted, and feels the pain of each one.
He dies time and time again, goes through that pain time and time again, and has to choose to do it one more time each time.
Most of us try to avoid all pain as best as we can, but he decided to face the pain of death over and over and over again, and, in the end, no one knew how often he did it.
Since he kept rewinding only that moment it is only him and Dormammu that are stuck.
