Two Life Rules I Copied From Happy People That I Live By Every Day

#1 — Always Be Honest.

For most people that means the same as “do not lie”, but to me it goes far deeper.

‘Honesty’, to me, means that you live true to who you are, that you do not hold yourself back, and that you are always truthful to yourself and others no matter how difficult that may be.

It means that you do not hide yourself, that you do not put on a mask and pretend who to be just to be liked, and that you take the responsibility and face the consequences of what that may mean.

Not everyone is going to like me, not everyone will agree with me, and I may even hurt some people by being me, but if I live a dishonest life I hurt myself more.

It ends up with me not recognizing who I am becoming, not liking the person staring at me in the mirror, and always feeling the weight of all the masks I am supposed to wear.

I did that. I cannot do that any more.

Doing that led me to fake friends that did not care one bit about me, to me lying about how great I was to the point I bankrupted myself, and made me cry every time I looked into the mirror.

To me that is leading a dishonest life.
