What Does It Mean To Be In The Now?

Think about this moment.

This very instance in time.

You are alive now, are you not?

Your heart is beating, you are breathing, and you are experiencing the world as it is.

And just like that, the moment has passed.

But you are already in a new moment.

Living in the now means always being present as to what is happening around you.

It means either letting go of all other thoughts about the past or the future or anything else that is not currently happening.

Or it means totally focusing your entire attention on this very instance in time.

Most of the time what disrupts us living in the now are our thoughts of the future or the past.

We remember old wounds or worry about new problems, and end up not being able to focus truly on the present moment.

In an attempt to multi-task we think about what we will buy for dinner as we work, or something will spark a thought of the past that sets us down memory lane for the next hour and a half.

Just like that, we are taken out of the present moment by random thoughts.
