Maturity is a growing of the mind, not of the body.

It is not a sign of age but a sign of wisdom garnered through experience.

And yet, while those experiences often go hand-in-hand with how many situations we have lived through, there are those that are wise beyond their years and those who stay irresponsible forever.

But what really makes the difference between the two?

If we look at quotes on maturity, we see some common themes emerge: Acceptance, Responsibility and Humility.

Take a look at these quotes and see if you can find the themes:

“Maturity is having the courage to use one’s own intelligence.” — Immanuel Kant

“Maturity is reached the day we don’t need to be lied to about anything.” — Frank Yerby

“To make mistakes is human; to stumble is commonplace; to be able to laugh at yourself is maturity.” — William Arthur Ward

“Maturity is when you live your life by your commitments, not by your feelings.” — Rick Warren

“Maturity is achieved when a person accepts life as full of tension.” — Joshua Loth Liebman

“Maturity is to face, and not evade, every fresh crisis that comes.” — Fritz Kunkel.
